PODCAST ‘MOSLIMA’
INSTALLATIONTo further address the issue of stereotypical representation of Muslim women in Dutch journalism, I decided to collaborate with Maartje Duin to create a podcast. In the two-part podcast series ‘Moslima’. We explored how the portrayal of ‘the Muslim woman’ has developed over the years and how we can change that image.
I learned that image formation is stubborn and challenging to change. You can’t change a system alone, so I search for allies among fellow photographers and image editors. An uncomfortable confrontation with the editor-in-chief of ANP makes it clear that this is a long-term process. This two-part series, including three bonus intiews, is part of a larger research project.
