PHOTO SERIESWhile conducting my research on image representation and exploring the system of our visual memory, I decided to intervene in that memory as a visual artist. This time, my focus shifted away from the media towards the collections of museums and archives in The Netherlands.
I was awarded the Stipendium Schiedams Water grant and as part of this grant I created a series of family portraits of Schiedam residents with Turkish backgrounds. These portraits represent a facet of out current image culture that is absent in our collections and archives.
